A purpose-built resort at 2,035m, among the highest towns in the Alps, and the alpine venue for the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics. Its altitude gives it the most reliable snow on the Via Lattea, the 400km circuit it anchors alongside Sauze d'Oulx and Montgenèvre in France.
