About
A legendary all-inclusive ski resort perched at 2,880m in the Andes above the stunning turquoise Laguna del Inca, near the Argentine border. Portillo is one of the oldest ski resorts in South America (opened 1949), famous for hosting the 1966 World Ski Championships — the only time the event has been held in South America. The resort operates as a self-contained hotel complex with no surrounding town, limiting daily visitors to 450 to ensure uncrowded slopes. World ski speed records have been set on its slopes, and it is a favourite summer training ground for northern hemisphere race teams.

English-speaking instructors are in high demand as the resort attracts many North American and European guests. Spanish is helpful but less critical than at other Chilean resorts given the international clientele.
- Recruitment Timeline
- Portillo begins hiring in March–April for the late June–October season. The all-inclusive model means all staff live on-site, creating a unique community. Applications through Ski Portillo website. Instructor roles filled early. Hotel and hospitality roles filled by May.

- Portillo's all-inclusive, self-contained nature creates a uniquely intimate social scene — often compared to a cruise ship in the mountains. The Hotel Portillo bar is the heart of après-ski, with guests and staff mingling over pisco sours and Chilean wine. The resort hosts weekly themed parties, live music, and movie nights. The famous Portillo pool party (heated outdoor pool surrounded by snow) is a signature experience. With only 450 guests maximum, everyone gets to know each other.
