A South Okanagan town that calls itself the Wine Capital of Canada and has the vineyard acreage to back it up. Baldy Mountain Resort is about 35km east and 45 minutes up into the hills — a small, family-run ski area with a big local following and no village of its own.

- Penticton (YYF) ~40km north; Kelowna (YLW) ~110km with far more flights. Spokane and Vancouver are both long drives.
- Road Conditions
- Highway 97 through the valley stays clear most of the winter. The Baldy road climbs more than 1,000m and is a proper winter drive — winter tyres, and check conditions before you leave.

- March for the vineyard season, or November if you are specifically chasing a winter at Baldy.

- Insider Tips
- Be honest about what you want — this is a farm-work town with skiing attached, not the other way round. If it is the winter you are after, Baldy is small and the road is long; if it is a full year in the Okanagan, Oliver is one of the cheapest places to do it.
