- Highway 97 through the valley is a main road and stays clear. Green Mountain Road up to Apex is a different proposition — narrow, climbing and genuinely snowy. Winter tyres required.

- Check the road before you commit to living down here and working up there — Green Mountain Road in a storm is the whole job. Apex is small, but it is dry, cold Okanagan snow and the village is genuinely friendly.
