- Working Holiday Visa is the standard route — NZ has agreements with 45+ countries. Cardrona sponsors Essential Skills Work Visas for senior instructors, park crew, and specialised roles. Most under-30 international hires arrive on a WHV.
- Recruitment Timeline
- Cardrona opens applications in February for the June season. Instructor and park crew positions require NZSIA / NZSSA / equivalent certification. Lift, F&B, and rental hiring through March–May. Apply via the Cardrona careers page.

- Cardrona runs daily staff and guest shuttles from Wanaka and Queenstown. The Crown Range road requires chains in winter and is occasionally closed. Most staff carpool or use the resort shuttle; many staff base themselves in Wanaka.

- The historic Cardrona Hotel at the base of the access road is iconic — a pub since 1863, popular for end-of-day beers. Most staff socialising happens in Wanaka, where Lalaland, Water Bar, Gin & Raspberry, and Ode are seasonal-worker favourites. Wanaka has a slightly more laid-back vibe than Queenstown but still a strong nightlife scene.
