- Après & Nightlife
- Quieter than Niseko. Most après happens inside the Club Med and Kiroro hotel bars (lobby bar, Mountain Side Bar). Some staff trips to Niseko (1 hr) for bigger nightlife. The Otaru side road has small izakayas and ramen shops.
- Healthcare
- Otaru General Hospital (30 min). Sapporo for major care (1 hr). On-mountain first-aid clinic during operating hours. Pharmacy in Otaru.
- Shops & Services
- Limited at the resort itself. Otaru (30 min) for supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, and restaurants. Sapporo (1 hr) for major shopping (department stores, electronics, international food).
- International Community
- Medium — strong Australian, British, and French staff presence (especially through Club Med). Smaller and quieter international scene than Niseko but tight-knit. Working English is widely used among staff.
